Nederland Leest: Erik of het Klein Insectenboek
Nederland Leest is the largest national reading campaign in the Netherlands. A literary work is selected each year and distributed free of charge by the public libraries to their members.
The campaign is based on a similar one initially running in the United States, called “One City, One Book.” A campaign that brings literature to a wide audience is not only fun, but also further enhances the contemporary view on the work. One City, One Book started in Chicago in 2001 with the old classic “To Kill A Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.
NIELSON & CLAUS produced the interactive film content presented by ambassador Philip Freriks, biologist Midas Dekkers and writer Jacques Vriens.
This year's chosen book is the fairytale “Eric in the land of insects”. Eric is a ten years old schoolboy who is studying insects at school. He gets shown and explained about them by his kind and nature-loving grandfather. He gives Eric a book about insects, that allows him to enter a mysterious wonderland...
The book was written by the famous writer Godfried Bomans, who is often remembered by his humor and charm. Check out the website www.nederlandleest.nl.
